The Carolina Classics series of film screenings will continue Tuesday with a showing of Mel Brooks' 1974 comedy classic Young Frankenstein at the Carolina Theatre, 310 S. Greene St.

Inspired by Mary Shelley's classic story, the film stars Gene Wilder as the descendant of Dr. Frankenstein, who inherits the ancestral castle and decides, much as his grandfather did, to create life.

Peter Boyle plays the Monster that he creates, and the film also stars Marty Feldman (as Igor - pronounced "Eyegor"), Madeline Kahn, Cloris Leachman, Kenneth Mars and, in a brilliant cameo as the old blind man, Gene Hackman.

The film, which received Academy Award nominations for best original screenplay (by Brooks and Wilder) and best sound, is rated PG for sexual situations, bawdy humor, slapstick violence and profanity.
