BEDFORD - It only took about 11 minutes Monday for police to respond to a bank robbery, chase down the suspect and subdue him with a Taser. At 11:47 a.m., police received a call about a robbery at the First National Exchange Bank on Blue Ridge Avenue.

At 11:58 a.m., they arrested William Louis Holland Jr., 20, of Bedford County. He was charged with armed robbery and using a firearm in the commission of a felony.

After getting the money - Graham declined to say how much - Holland left the bank and ran toward the Westgate Shopping Center, located nearby on Blue Ridge Avenue.

Other agencies heard the action on the radio: officers from the Bedford County Sheriff's Office, Virginia State Police and the state's Alcohol and Beverage Control responded and surrounded Holland.
