RICHMOND, Va. - The Virginia Department of Transportation will make it easier for holiday travelers this week by opening some lanes that are temporarily closed for construction or maintenance work.
On Interstate 95: the so-called Mixing Bowl, or Springfield Interchange; the Wilson Bridge at Alexandria; the Route 17 exit (Exit 133) at Falmouth.
On Interstate 64: narrow lanes for a bridge project just west of Richmond, near the Staples Mill exit; in Hampton between the Hampton Roads Center Parkway and the I-664 split; and the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel, where backups are expected.
On Interstate 77: in Wythe County, bridge work over the New River and Route 52. And slowdowns are expected in Wythe County at the I-77/I-81 overlap due to high traffic volumes.
