Here in America, it’s what we like to all a “short week.” Monday and Tuesday usually go by slowly, but with minimal effort towards work. That’s because of the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, which can mean anywhere from a half day to no work at all on Wednesday, stuffing our faces on Thursday, and sleeping, shopping, or taking in a movie on Friday.

For a guy like me, Thanksgiving never really means it's a "short week." Today I’ve got a Premiership match to focus on between Birmingham City and Bolton Wanderers. It’s not the most intriguing match-up, but as I said to our Chief Editor Former-Pro Extraordinaire Greg Lalas, “It’s something to do on a Monday afternoon.” And with my fantasy side, Windsor Wanderers, a team of drafted Premiership players, facing relegation from the prestigious Small Rocks Division, it's imperative I scout as many matches as possible on the off chance I can unearth a diamond in the rough who can help me climb out of the drop zone.

Tuesday through Thursday offer up a veritable feast of footy as well as nightly vigils for the ailing George Best and for the ailing career of Roy Keane. Champions League action resumes Tuesday afternoon, and it’s night-capped by an Interclubs Cup tie between Costa Rican power Saprissa and some other club I have never heard of before: Perez Zeledon. Sandwiched in between all of that is a trip west to see Virginia in a second round NCAA men’s College Cup match.

Thursday sees us taking in a second helping of UEFA Cup action, coupled with a double dose of the other football. On the gridiron we get our annual Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys games. This year they host the Atlanta Falcons and Denver Broncos respectively. With players on my fantasy team, Average Joe’s, featuring in both games, these will be must-see events.

Friday is a day of rest, napping, recovery, all in an effort to gear up for the usual dose of big games from across the pond on Saturday and Sunday.

So, that’s how I plan to spend my “short week.” How do you in America or those celebrating Thanksgiving this week plan to spend your short week?
