The Army National Guard today announced a new national recruiting initiative that kicks off in We... Guard to test recruitment
The initiative will use West Virginia Army guardsmen to help recruit new guard members and will reward each with up to a $2,000 bonus, depending on their success.
Lt. Gen. Clyde A. Vaughn, director of the Army National Guard, announced the initiative this morning in Charleston with West Virginia Adjutant General Allen Tackett.
West Virginia has consistently been among the top states in both recruitment and retention of guardsmen, which is one of the reasons it was selected as a test state.
If the recruit passes basic training, the guardsman will receive another $1,000. Guardsmen aren't limited in the number of recruits they may sign up, though safeguards are built into the program to prevent abuse.
